About Cursive Writing A to Z
DigiNhance makes handwriting worksheets on Indian four-line ruling for UKG to Class 3, because most practice material doesn't match the school notebook.
Get the A to Z book, Rs 149One A4 sheet for every letter, on the ruling in your child's school copy. Ordered on a form, paid on PayU, emailed to you. Ask for the free capitals A to H pack first if you want to see a sheet used tonight.
Cursive Writing A to Z is a set of Indian school handwriting worksheets made by DigiNhance DBA CursiveWriting, based in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The problem that started this
A parent gets the copy notebook back from school. The teacher has circled a row of letters in red and written "size not proper" alongside it. The parent looks at the letters and then at the notebook and cannot see exactly what is wrong. The letters look like letters. They are inside the lines. But something about the proportions is off, and the teacher can see it and the parent cannot explain it to the child.
That gap, between what the teacher sees and what the parent can describe, is what this site was built to close.
The four-line ruling that most practice sheets ignore
Indian school notebooks have four horizontal lines. Line 1 is the ceiling for capital letters and the tall ones: d, f, h, k, l, t. Lines 2 and 3, the middle pair, hold the body of every small letter. Line 4 catches the descending letters (g, j, p, q, y), whose tails dip below the baseline.
Most practice material sold in India, and nearly everything available online, is designed for a three-line American ruled sheet. On a three-line sheet, the body zone and the ceiling zone sit at different proportions. A child who practises on a three-line sheet and then writes in a four-line school notebook places letters at the wrong height, which is exactly what the teacher marks as "size not proper."
We made practice sheets on the four-line ruling because that is the ruling the teacher uses to mark the work. The model letter at the top of each page sits on the same four lines as the child's own school notebook. The tracing rows are the same. The blank rows are the same.
How DigiNhance came to make worksheets
DigiNhance is a small design studio in Airoli, Navi Mumbai. The worksheets that were easy to find did not match the school notebook: they were drawn for a three-line sheet, so a child practising on them was being trained for a different ruling from the one the teacher marks.
So every sheet here has a model letter at the top, tracing rows in the middle and blank rows at the bottom, all on four-line ruling sized to match a standard Indian school notebook, and all of it prints at a xerox shop.
What we make and why we do it this way
Every book is an A4 PDF because A4 is the standard school page size in India, and a PDF can be printed at the local xerox shop for two or three rupees a page. We do not sell physical books because a physical book cannot be reprinted. If a letter needs another turn, you print that page again: no extra charge, same file.
We sell by payment on PayU because UPI, card, and netbanking are how most Indian families pay. The PDF is attached to an email that goes out on its own as soon as PayU confirms the payment, so there is no account to make and no download link to expire. If it does not arrive, the same email address reaches a person.
What we hope for the child
Not a champion. Not a transformation in thirty days. A child who knows where the body of a small letter belongs (between lines 2 and 3) and who has practised that enough times that it is no longer something they have to think about while they are also thinking about the word they are writing.
Handwriting that does not interfere with the thinking is what we are working towards. The practice itself is ten minutes after dinner, one page, beside the child. That is the session.
For parents and teachers
The books are used by parents running a short practice session at home, and by class teachers in UKG, Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 who want a ready-made set of sheets that match the school notebook exactly. The capital letters and the small letters are separate halves of the A to Z book, not Aa together on one page, because that is how most Indian schools teach them: capitals in one term, small letters in the next.
If you want to try a practice session before buying, the free pack has eleven pages for capitals A to H. The full Capitals and Small Letters book covers A to Z in both cases. For the practice method itself, see how to practise.
