What is on each worksheet
Every letter sheet in every pack is built the same way:
- A short heading at the top that names the letter and its sound. "C: /k/ as in cup". The child reads the heading once and goes on.
- A large correctly formed model of the letter, printed in ink, sitting on the four lines. Lines 2 and 3 are gold. Lines 1 and 4 are grey. The model sits in the right band so the child can see the height without measuring.
- Two trace rows. The letter is shown faintly in grey so the child can run the pencil along it. Arrows on the first row show the stroke direction.
- Two copy rows. The model is at the left of the row. The rest of the row is blank four-line space.
- Two independent rows. No model. The child writes the letter on the four lines alone.
There is no decoration, no character in the corner, no theme. The page looks like the school copy, which is the point. What a good practice sheet should have explains why each of those parts is there.
The A to Z pair has 55 pages: 29 capitals, 29 small letters, plus three reference pages that name the four lines and show where each letter sits. The word packs add a word strip under the letter rows. Every letter's height is listed on the A to Z guide.
Printing specs
- Paper: A4. Not letter, not legal. Indian school copies are A4.
- Scale: 100 per cent, or "actual size". Never "fit to page".
- Colour: optional. The gold band prints as dark grey on a black and white copy and still reads clearly.
- Paper weight: ordinary 70 or 80 gsm copier paper is fine.
- Pages: print only what you need. Each letter is its own page, so pages 1 to 8 give you A to H.
- Print on A4. Not letter, not legal. Indian school copies are A4, and the ruling on the sheet is drawn for it.
- Set the scale to 100 per cent. Choose "actual size", never "fit to page". Fit to page shrinks the ruling by a few per cent, and the bands come out narrower than the notebook.
- Print one page and check it. Hold the printed page against the open school notebook. The four lines should line up almost exactly. If they do not, the shop has scaled the file; ask for 100 per cent and check again.
- Print the letters you need this week. A xerox shop copy at Rs 20 to Rs 30 for a handful of pages works as well as a colour print at home.
PDF, not a printed book
You get a file, not a courier parcel. The PDF is emailed as soon as you pay. Print it as often as your own household needs: the same sheet again tomorrow, the whole alphabet for a younger sibling next year.
Questions about cursive writing worksheets PDF
How many pages are in the A to Z PDF pair?
55. Twenty-nine capitals, twenty-nine small letters, and three reference pages naming the four lines and where each letter sits. Print only the letters the child is working on this week.
Are the worksheets black and white or colour?
Both work. The gold middle band on the worksheets prints as dark grey on a black and white xerox copy, which still shows the bands clearly. Colour ink at home is unnecessary.
Will the worksheets match my child's handwriting book?
Yes. The worksheets use Indian four-line ruling in the same proportions as the standard school copy. Print at 100 per cent on A4, and the bands match.
Can I print just the letters my child needs?
Yes. Each letter is its own page, so you can print pages 1 to 8 for A to H, or only the page for the one letter that troubles the child.
Do you ship a printed book?
No. You get the PDF by email after payment and print it yourself, at home or at a xerox shop. Printing cost is separate from the price.
What if my child's letter does not look like the model?
Look at which band the letter went past. If it floats above line 3, the bands on the printed worksheet are probably too tight. Print one page at 100 per cent and check it against the notebook. The model sits on the right bands in the file, so a misprint is the most common cause.
What if the four-line ruling in the school copy is different?
Some schools use a slightly taller or shorter band. The worksheets still work. Hold the printed page against the open notebook to confirm the bands line up before printing the rest.
